Subsidence & Bowing Wall Repair - Crediton, Devon
Whilst undergoing a refurbishment of this brick built three storey property, a structural engineer was asked to assess the cracking that was uncovered.
The engineer's initial findings pointed towards subsidence at the front elevation, most likely due to the footings being washed out following inadequate surface water drainage.
Target Structural's South West branch was called in to provide a specialist survey, and following its surveyor's inspection it was confirmed the cracking was indeed due to subsidence. In addition, Target's surveyor discovered the end wall was bowing due to lack of restraint over the three floors.
Target supplied a repair scheme to install a combination of 100mm and 60mm Heli Piles to support the front elevation and bay window. Bar Flex beaming was used to strengthen the walls and form new lintels, Cem Flex ties were installed to pin failing brick arches and Bow Flex ties were utilised to provide restraint at each floor level.
On completion all works were passed by the local building control officer and a ten year insurance backed guarantee was issued.
